The geometrical concept of the Magic Cube, an extraordinarily complex form that appears simple on the exterior, has been consistently thought of, in an architectural sense, in both abstract and physical forms.

For this suburban residence, five cubic forms were used as elements in a larger composition, similar to installation art. These cubes are:

The White Box Conveying the residence main areas, including living area, dining area, and master bedroom.

The Grey Box Serving as the house skeleton, connecting all architectural elements and viewpoints, stretching from the house entrance to the fish pond at the beck of the property. The grey box also conceals the service area of the house.

The Wooden Box Portrayed as the second-floor area above the living space terrace. It is oriented at a right angle, jutting out of the main north-south wall and thus serving as a point of attention.

The Glass Box Serving as the study section. Acting as the house's "headquartes", people in the study room can observe other family members activities in other parts of the house.

The Absent Box Portrayed as the negative space underneath the wooden box and sandwiched between the white boxes. This area is represented by a shaded wooden terrace for family members to rest and relax. The absent box is also connected to the pool and the fish pond.
